IT WASN'T BECAUSE I didn’t love writing on it but because the algorithm kept whispering, “You’re invisible. You’re behind. You’ll never catch up.”
You know that shrinking feeling when you scroll.
Yeah. That’s the dragon brain talking. When it breathes that comparison fire on me, I either freeze or spiral. Which means I don't write. Which means I really do get lost in the Substack void. Which means no one discovers me.

I didn’t slay my dragon brain with discipline, motivation, or some productivity hack. I had to trick it.
I started scribbling little reframes and one-liners I stole from therapy sessions, books, and my own desperate notes to myself.
These are my Mind Shift Focus Cards.
And they work.
WHEN THE ALGORITHM tries to make me feel small and discouraged, I pull a card that says, “There is no such thing as not being good enough; life is growing on your own time.”
When comparison whispers that everyone else is ahead, I grab one that reminds me, “Stop believing a negative thought that triggers the distress and your emotions will begin to change.”

Now I’ve stopped letting Substack’s algorithm and comparison trap feed my dragon brain and keep me from my writing destiny.
I have to tell you, if you’re stuck in fear, procrastination, self-doubt, overthinking, or stress (and I mean in any part of life), you are so not broken. Your dragon brain’s just being dramatic since it thinks it's protecting you from unrealistic danger like rejection and danger.
But transforming into a positive, action-ready mindset is super challenging. That’s why I want you to collect all my 60 Mind Shift focus cards. They make it easier for you to reset your mind and stop the fake fear so you keep writing.
