Hey, writer! 💛
You know when you sit down to write… and your brain turns into a static TV screen?
The cursor blinks like it’s judging you.
You start wondering if you’ll ever finish anything again.
Your laptop is one scream away from being flung out the window.
Yeah. I’ve totally been there.
That’s exactly why I started Keep Writing Anyway, a newsletter for burned-out, blocked, or just plain exhausted writers who still believe in storytelling, even when it’s hard. Because unlike what the world tells you, just because you’re not producing constantly doesn’t mean you’re failing as a writer.
I’ve tried every trick, every pep talk, and every reset button to get me past those writing blocks, and I’m here to share what’s actually worked to keep me writing anyway.
You can even see for yourself that these tips work for me because I’m sharing 5 ongoing serials! You can see what momentum really looks like, in progress, in motion, and in real time.
Let’s keep writing, even when it’s messy. Even when it’s hard. Especially when we don’t feel like we can. You in?
Every Saturday, I send a Keep Writing Anyway creative pep talk, mental reframe, or deep-dive into how to keep you writing through burnout, self-doubt, chaos, and couch-potato-level motivation.
This isn’t more of that “just write every day” fluff every single freakin’ person tells you. It’s real support for the emotional chaos of the writing life to get your brain on the right track.
You’ll also get a roundup of the week’s newest chapters in case you missed them (more on that in a sec).
This Saturday post is for paid subscribers only because it’s ONLY FOR WRITERS WHO ARE ACTUALLY SERIOUS ABOUT WRITING. It’s the deep stuff. The “how I actually keep writing” kind of stuff that even I need to hear to keep from chucking my laptop out the window.
💡 If you’ve ever thought “I should just quit,” this is the newsletter that gently says, “No. You shouldn’t. Let’s find your spark again.”
My “keep writing anyway” tricks are helping me write, too! I’m serializing my books on Substack, chapter by chapter. (Don't worry, you don't have to have a Substack account to subscribe to my newsletter!) Every post and newsletter brings you a new giggle, a character to love, or a twist you didn’t see coming. And it’s not just fiction. My nonfiction brings the same spark of hilarity. I’m not trying to be edgy. I’m trying to be excellent and funny, which is way harder, and way rarer. The good news is, everything’s for FREE! Here’s what your weekly dose of laughs, magic and mayhem looks like:
🪄 Scarred (The Harry Potter Parody)
Calling all wizards, witches, and sarcastic Muggles! Scarred is my completely unapproved, wildly funny retelling of the Harry Potter series, just with more chaos, more sass, and a Hermione who thinks everyone else is an idiot, including Harry. I wanted to return to Hogwarts so couldn’t resist. I’m dropping one chapter every Monday, so jump on your broomstick and get reading!
🎬 The Personalitiez (Middle Grade Prequel Stories)
Ever wonder what it’s like to grow up on a Hollywood set with fame, feuds, and food fights? This is your backstage pass. This is the big project I’m working on. It’s a middle grade book series that follows a cast of hilarious preteens in Hollywood and their misadventures in front of and behind the camera. These prequels introduce the hilarious cast before the first book. Your feedback helps shape their world!
🌕 The Brothers Grimm
What if the Brothers Grimm didn’t just write fairy tales but lived them? In this whimsical dark fantasy novella series, Jacob and Wilhelm face the magical chaos of the very stories they made famous. See how many fairy tales you can spot!
🌎 Weird Things in History
History buffs and fun facts enthusiasts will love this! Truth is stranger (and funnier) than fiction. I share bizarre, hilarious, and “how-was-this-real?!” moments from history. If you like your facts with a side of snark and surprise, this nonfiction series is for you.
👻 Ghosty Gordon
This is a charming fantasy story about a soul-searching ghost, a mysterious town called Ghostyville, and a slightly unhinged adventure with a sarcastic feline named Carol Cat. Ghosty Gordon is inspired by my brother’s ghost-themed NFT collection. You can even adopt your very own ghosty (they don’t eat much). Spooky, funny, and full of heart!
